Frequently Asked Pricing Questions
Is the free plan really free?
Yes. The free plan is a permanent option, not a trial. It covers the core features many families need, supported by the paid plans rather than by selling family data or showing ads.
What’s the difference between monthly and annual billing?
Annual billing saves about a third of the cost compared with paying month to month. Many families choose annual after their first month on premium because they realize they’ll use the app long-term.
Can I switch between plans?
Yes. Upgrade or downgrade any time from the dashboard. Upgrades take effect immediately. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period so you don’t lose what you’ve already paid for.
What happens if I cancel?
Your premium features remain active until the end of your current billing period. After that, your account automatically converts to the free plan β you don’t lose your data, your child profiles, or your history. You can reactivate premium any time.
Do I need to enter a credit card to start the free plan?
No. The free plan does not require any payment information. A card is only needed when you choose to upgrade to a paid plan.
Is there a discount for educators, nonprofits, or families in difficult circumstances?
Yes. MyParental offers reduced-rate access for educators, nonprofits, foster families, and families experiencing financial hardship. Contact our team and we’ll work something out.
How does the 7-day premium trial work?
When you start a paid plan, the first 7 days are free. You can cancel before the trial ends and you won’t be charged. If you don’t cancel, your selected plan begins at the end of the trial.
Are there charges per device?
No. Pricing is per family, not per device. The Premium plan supports up to 5 children with as many devices as each child uses. The Family plan supports unlimited children. There’s no extra cost for installing the child app on a phone and a tablet for the same kid.
Do you offer a refund if I’m not satisfied?
Yes. All paid plans come with a 30-day money-back guarantee. If MyParental isn’t working for your family in the first month, contact support and we’ll refund your payment.
How do you handle price changes over time?
Existing customers keep their current rate for the rest of their billing period. If prices change for new customers, we notify existing customers at least 30 days before any price change takes effect on their account.
Is there a lifetime plan?
Not at this time. We’ve found that subscription pricing lets us invest continuously in keeping the app working as platforms change. A one-time payment model would mean less ability to maintain the product over the long run.
What payment methods are accepted?
Major credit and debit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay are accepted. We do not store full card details on our servers β payments are processed through industry-standard payment providers with PCI compliance.
How MyParental Compares on Price
Parental control apps vary widely in price. For context, here’s roughly where MyParental sits among well-known options.
- Apple Screen Time and Family Sharing are free, built into iOS. Limited to Apple devices and basic features. Learn more.
- Google Family Link is free on Android, with iOS parent app support. Strong for younger kids, more limited for teens. Learn more.
- Bark runs roughly $14β$27 per month depending on features. Strong AI alert system. Learn more.
- Qustodio runs roughly $55β$140 per year depending on the plan. Polished dashboard and reporting. Learn more.
- MyParental Premium is $9.99 per month or $79.99 per year β generally lower than the comparable paid subscriptions while including a meaningful free tier.
Price isn’t the only factor when choosing a parental control app, but it matters. MyParental is designed to give families a comprehensive set of tools at a price that doesn’t ask households to choose between safety and other priorities.
A Note on Why This Costs Anything at All
Running a service that handles family data well β securely, reliably, with real human support β costs money. The paid plans are what make it possible to:
- Keep servers running and secure
- Pay engineers to keep the app working as iOS and Android change
- Pay a support team that responds to real questions from real parents
- Avoid selling family data to advertisers
- Avoid running ads inside the app
The free plan exists because we believe basic family safety tools shouldn’t be locked behind a paywall. The paid plans exist because building the product properly takes ongoing work. Both can be true at the same time.
Ready to Start?
Most families begin on the free plan to get a feel for the app, then decide whether to upgrade after a week or two of real use. There’s no rush, no commitment, and no credit card needed to begin.
